I thought of writing a short post about this year’s Hong Kong Flower Show currently ongoing at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay. The flower show started on March 15 and will last until the 24th. It’s a yearly event promoting the beauty and the influence of the horticulture. Different local groups and organizations usually participate in setting up beautiful garden and flower arrangements for people, camera in hand, to feast on.
If you’re in Hong Kong around this time, you may want to drop by Victoria Park to have a look at the flower show. There’s a 14 HKD entrance fee that you can either pay by cash or by octopus card. When I went there this afternoon, there were a bunch of locals, expats, and photographers with cameras ranging from the back of their phones to super zoom lenses just to capture the freshly arranged flowers.
I had three cameras on my hand when I went there. My Fuji film camera was not charged so it was just my good old iPhone and my Lumix. I had to either wait for my turn or squeeze in to get a shot of the flowers. There’re tulips huddled in the middle sporting different colors, most in full bloom. It was the highlight of the show, same as last year.
There are also different booths on the sides selling fresh flowers if you’re interested. There are also little souvenirs if you’re not in for some fresh flowers – last year I bought a cute decor.
It’s a fresh and cheap alternative to put in your itinerary if you’re a tourist in Hong Kong around this time and on the lookout for new activities. It won’t rub you much time as it’s in the heart of the city, a stone throw away from one of the busiest and most popular places tourists go to when they visit Hong Kong.
